I am honored and feel privileged to compose the introduction to a book of remembrance.  As a 1966 Riverview High School graduate and a combat veteran of the Viet Nam War, I have deep feelings and great admiration for the young men in this book.  I knew some of them personally and I thought that the speech above given by President Teddy Roosevelt best describes their place in our history. These men were truly in the arena and each one gave their life to the cause they believed in and honored. Freedom, caring for fellow man, serving our nation and having the courage to face the enemy in combat are powerful dynamics that each one of these young men faced head on. These are valiant young men that lost their lives at a very young age in the service to the nation. There are no words to express this kind of loss to their families and friends. We can only love and respect them for their ultimate sacrifice.  They are the very best of our nation for sure and we must all continue to honor them every day of our lives in thought, words and deeds.
