Linda Nook

Linda Nook came to Riverview High School in 2001, the first woman principal in Riverview's history at that time. By the time she retired in 2015, she had set the bar high for future principals.

Linda graduated from Merrill Senior High School in Wisconsin and went on to

graduate with her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-La

Crosse. She then received her Master's degree in Administration from

Sacramento State University in California. Her teaching career began in Stockton, California. In 1991, Linda received the School and Community Service Award by the Stockton division of the National Congress of Parents and Teachers which recognizes innovative and professional women. She then became principal of North Stockton's Wagner Holt School.

But the sirens of Florida, and specifically Sarasota, began calling to her. In 1993,

Linda was hired as principal of Fruitville Elementary School. Linda then moved on to Sarasota Middle School from 1995-2001. In 2001, Linda became the first woman principal at Riverview. Once there, Linda was given the task of planning and designing the new school which exists today, built on the original footprint on Lords Avenue, or One Ram Way. She also led the staff and students in the development of small learning communities during her tenure.

Those who were fortunate to be a part of Riverview during Linda's tenure experienced a leader who was passionate about the traditions of Riverview, had a

strong vision for maintaining the excellence of Riverview, and who cared deeply for the students and staff who came through Riverview's doors.

A scholarship in Linda's name is given each year to "a young woman who demonstrates outstanding leadership at Riverview and the community."

Linda retired in 2015 after serving as Riverview's principal for 14 years.
