Judge Maryann Olson Boehm
 
Maryann Olson Boehm is a Sarasota County Judge who was elected to the bench in 2010.  As a county judge, she hears criminal and civil cases, including criminal misdemeanors, civil and criminal traffic, landlord-tenant, small claims, and jurisdictional civil cases. Judge Boehm is a faculty member of the Conference of County Court Judges of Florida and teaches at judicial education conferences throughout Florida in both criminal and civil law. She resides in Sarasota with her husband, David, and two daughters.

Judge Boehm is a 1985 graduate of Riverview High School. In high school, she was active in speech club, drama, chorus, and was a Kiltie’s highland dancer. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from The University of Florida in 1990. She was Miss University of Florida 1990 and a member of Chi Omega. She was crowned Miss Florida 1991 as Miss Manatee County, and competed at the Miss America Pageant, winning the Non-Finalist Talent Award for singing her rendition of “Where the Boys Are.” After singing and dancing professionally at Walt Disney World, she moved to Houston, Texas for law school. She received her Juris Doctorate degree from The South Texas College of Law in 1996. She is admitted to practice law in Texas (1996) and Florida (1997).

During law school, she was honored to be selected as the federal court intern for Chief Judge Norman Black, Southern District of Texas (1994-1995) and appellate intern for Justice Eric Andell, 1st District Court of Appeals of Texas (1995). Her moot court team won the national Spong Invitational Moot Court Tournament at the College of William & Mary (1995).  Upon graduation, she worked as an Assistant State Attorney in Sarasota before practicing civil law until she was elected in 2010.

Judge Boehm has been very active in her hometown, serving as Past President of the Judge John M. Scheb American Inn of Court, Film Producer of Legacy of Professionalism: Judge John M. Scheb and Our Inn of Court, past Chair of Sarasota County Canvassing Board, Past President of the Junior League of Sarasota, Steering committee/ moderator for Sarasota County Bar Association’s Civil Bench-Bar Conference 2016, committee member establishing the 12th Judicial Circuit’s Local Professionalism Panel, Sarasota County Bar Association, Manatee County Bar Association (past Board member), Leadership Manatee, and the Sarasota Chapter of Florida Association of Women Lawyers (past Secretary). She is an active member of the Judicial Education Committee of the Conference of County Court Judges of Florida and has served as the 12th Judicial Circuit Representative on the Board of Directors and chair of the Awards & Merit Committee. President George W. Bush awarded her the Volunteer Service Award/ Gold Level in 2007 for over 500 community service hours that year. In 2016, Florida Supreme Court Chief Justice Jorge LaBarga appointed Judge Boehm to represent the Conference of County Judges on his committee to nominate the award recipients for the Chief Justice Award for Judicial Excellence. Additionally, she was honored to accept the American Inn of Court Platinum Award at the U.S. Supreme Court in Washington, D.C. in November, 2016.
